Entry Level Training (ELT) – Water/Wastewater Operators

This 2 day in-class AWWOA course worth 1.2 continuing education units (CEU’s) This course satisfies the Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) minimum training requirement for water & wastewater system operators planning to write the *level one certification exams. This training covers basic aspects of the industry, including topics such as:

– Legislation: Role of the operator, implications of non-compliance, applicable laws, and certification requirements

– Communication & Math skills: Standard operating procedures, calculations, conversions, daily records

– Water Treatment: Equipment maintenance, drinking water processes / production, contamination risks

– Wastewater Treatment: Principles, stabilization ponds, mechanical plants, equipment maintenance

– Safety & Security: Emergency planning, hazards, safety procedures, protective equipment

– Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection: Systems, components, maintenance, blueprint reading

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
1. New W/WW Systems Operators that have previously completed and passed the AWWOA Small Water & Wastewater
Systems Course and who are planning to write AEP’s Level I W/WW Certification exam(s)

2. Experienced operators that haven’t taken this course previously and may need some CEU’s for certification renewal.

*Operators who successfully complete this ELT course will receive the course manual/workbook and be registered into AWWOA’s Level One Certification Preparation Correspondence course for additional level one certification preparation.

TRAVEL/ACCOMMODATIONS: Participants are responsible for making their own travel & accommodation arrangements. Travel and/or Overnight expense reimbursements (overnight reimbursements are only eligible for any participant travelling from a nation over 150 km one way) will be processed back to the Nation upon the full attendance and completion/passing of the course, and only for operators who’ve never taken the course previously, and who are also planning to write the AEP Level One certification exams within the next 6 months.

NOTE: This event/workshop is 100% FREE to attend for Alberta First Nation Water and/or Wastewater Operators who are currently employed with an Alberta First Nation; supervisor confirmation will be required. Coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided for both days.
